Mildura R1 No.10 - STEEL CAPS
Went enormously considering he was 5 weeks between runs and 1000m to 2100m second-up at Swan Hill! He pulled himself into the ground/hung out for the first 1000m of the race as the rider tried to get him to adjust to the slack tempo, the fact he still had the tenacity to fight and chase a tearaway leader (hit the line well) shows he's ready to win, takes massive benefit physically (yes second go 2000m) and this is a very limited bunch. Improved off heavy failure onto firmer track at the latest effort, gets good going today.

NEXT BEST: Mildura R3 No.4 - LOVE MAGIC
Debut at Swan Hill 11 days ago over the 1200m was terrific after bombing the kick, just got too far out of his ground and was left with a bit much to do (tired late). Unable to nab one handier in running. Fancy he strips much fitter and from the favourable marble he may take closer order, had what was basically a track gallop 'trial' on a bog surface at Tatura three days ago where his action looked sound. Looks like he'll be a better horse on top of the ground and should take beating with natural improvement.

BEST: Mildura R4 No.13 - SILVERA
Really, really liked the trial at Murray Bridge two weeks ago over the 1200m, ran good time in the conditions and never really appeared to entirely get through the soft track. With that in mind he went through the line exceptionally and was right there with genuine G1 performer Big Memory, had the better of proven city-class gallopers on this occasion and 1400m/on top of the ground looks like an exceptional recipe to kick off his career. Inside draw a slight concern, but with even luck he'll win.

Mildura R6 No.1 - ROCKET TOMMY
Genuine 1000m specialist, and bonafide flying machine! Ran some seriously slick times (provincial) when stringing together three on the trot in his most recent prep. We've seen winners out of all of those races, and this here doesn't look overly tough. He certainly rates good enough to win this and despite the 62.5kgs I expect him to roll to the front and just have too much sustained speed. Trial at St Arnaud three weeks ago was good (didn't break any records) in very smart company!

ROUGHIE: Ipswich R3 No.10 - TRUE STEPPER
Looked like a horse on debut that clearly needed the run (easy in the market) after a slow get away, he got a mile out of his ground and was certainly unsuited at the 1000m (but did hit the line ok). Think he takes good benefit from the outing both physically/mentally, and should be much more appreciative of the 1200m. Reckon if he jumps they'll be keen to take a much more prominent position in running, will run a very cheeky race at the double figures.

Ipswich R5 No.3 - MAJELLA MAGIC
Was ridden upside-down fresh here at Ipswich two weeks ago over the 1000m but still went nicely, managed to hit the line with some authority and it was a real 'flashing light' that she'll go close second-up. Inside draw for her suits, she can take a much more prominent position in running and should track the favourite everywhere she goes. Can peal off her back at the 200m and be the one over the top in the shadows of the post. Better back on top of the ground!
