Best Bet: Sandown R1 No.4 - CRAVEN IMAGE

Made good progression second-up to 1300m here two weeks ago when forced to face the breeze three-deep, managed to continue to make good ground and was only bettered by the smart Havildar (Stakes-class) who had a soft run on-speed. Think he clearly is looking for a step to the mile and keen he'll be the one strong over the top late, inside draw isn't ideal but shouldn't pose too much of an issue kicking off the program. Theres a distinct lack of quality in this race and he's worth following.

Next Best: Sandown R3 No.6 - THE DOMINATOR

Kiwi import who made his debut for H.Dwyer down at Geelong seven days ago over 2200m (two months between runs), he went super under the circumstances - was snagged straight back to near on last after jumping and appeared to settle quite well. Then began to improve from the 800m before finding trouble entering the straight/lost all momentum, the fact he again picked-up and ran through the line was a great sign. He'll take enormous benefit from the run physically and should be improved with the extra 200m. Can sit closer in the small field/from the friendly marble and take beating!

Sandown R6 No.11 - ARIAZ

Really promising filly this (taking on the older horses), she debuted here (Hillside) back in March over the 1000m and came from the second-half of the field to romp in (good time), then went to Adelaide to compete at G3 level and just found one better. Think the end of 1200m on that occasion found her out, since spelled and has appeared to trial up nicely in latest hit-out at Cranbourne on a bog track. Wasn't knocked about but looked very well in herself. Speed looks good here and if they're beginning to make ground down the centre of the track (pattern?) then she'll be rocketing home.

Sandown R7 No.6 - MARWOOD

Won in good fashion at Caulfield 4 weeks ago over the 1400m at Caulfield in better company than this, seen runner-up Magicus come out and go close (as favourite) in recent race at Moonee Valley. Drops 3.5kgs at the weights and do like the fact they've kept him relatively fresh. Think he's a better horse with the sting out of the track (gets that here) and wide draw is no concern. Speed looks genuine so he should have every chance to wind-up late.

Roughie: Sandown R8 No.2 - VENGUER MASQUE

Highly promising import having his first start for M.Moroney, in his first prep this time last year back in France he ran a bottler in the G3 Prix De Reux, then wasn't totally disgraced in the G1 St Leger at Doncaster. Clearly purchased as a prospective Cups prospect, but going off his trial (1200m) at Flemington 12/9 I think he can run a cracking race fresh, that 1800m is well short of his best but he does have the class edge on them. Keen to have something on!

Warwick Farm R1 No.7 - OUR BELISA

Two runs since returning from a break have been good, made the progression 1100m to 1400m at latest outing at Kembla Grange and hit the line nicely against the pattern (leader dominated). Think third-up/mile she ticks plenty of boxes and in the small field she can sit close enough to be within striking distance. Could catch a few of these on the hop with a fitness edge!

Warwick Farm R5 No.2 - ANTONIO GIUSEPPE

Was 1250m to 1550m second-up when getting the job done at Canterbury two weeks ago, settled nicely just worse than midfield and really rounded them up with ease running away from them late. Sticks at the mile here so you'd have to think being only third-up he'd still take improvement. Its a fairly compressed weight-scale so not concerned by the 61.5kgs. Think he's got plenty of upside and can again win here before moving to Saturday grade. Had form at a mile back in NZ behind Valley Girl (runner-up G1 Vinery Stud Stakes/enormous in G1 ATC Oaks), good enough for this.
