Next Best: Geelong R3 No.7 - ANNRHON
Didn't go a yard on shifting surface here 9 days ago (turf) when to 1300m for the first-time (like the quick turnaround), totally forgiving and keen to assess of two pro-ride runs prior. They were both excellent despite terrible tactics, snagged early/over-raced and was certainly doing her best work late (closing sections good). First-time she's drawn favourably so keen they'll look to take closer order, if she can find daylight from the 400m - could be hard to hold out!
Annrhon - 1pt @ 5.00
Best Bet: Geelong R5 No.8 - INVINCIBLE JOY
Was well-backed on debut in whats proven to be a fairly handy form-race in Adelaide back in April, just couldn't go with the winner (since successful at Stakes-level) but did go ok under the circumstances. Fancy he might have got his tongue over the bit (hence tongue-tie on) and recent jump-outs at Caulfield have been slick. Better horse for that initial prep and think over the 1000m he can be far too sharp for them.
Invincible Joy - 1pt @ 2.20
Geelong R6 No.6 - KNIGHTHOOD
Debut win was very good considering he did plenty wrong here two months ago, went straight to the front but really failed to settle - despite that he still offered a terrific kick upon straightening and was just too good for them. Interesting he's been given time since that debut, some minor gear changes suggest he is a bit of a thinker but theres certainly talent there. Can again roll to the front from the wide alley and take a power of catching. Pattern suits v. key rivals who'll settle second-half of the field.
Knighthood - 1pt @ 5.00
Roughie: Geelong R9 No.5 - JACKPOT
Was ridden upside-down when failing at Pakenham during latest outing, was caught in the ruck from the inside marble and never really looked comfortable. Major plus to see him drawn out here today, he's got good early toe so I expect he'll cross and find the fence. Race lacks considerable speed on paper, so if he can control things early and look to up the tempo from the 600m, he might just have too much of a break on them. Pakenham win 6 weeks ago over the 1400m on the pro-ride was in smart time!

Scone R1 No.6 - ALLEZ BIEN
Thought recent trial over the 1000m on a bog track at Randwick (9/8) was quite good, looked to get through the going comfortably enough and appeared to have something still up her sleeve (winner of the heat looks promising). She was asked to pick up when rounding the bend but was forced to remain towards the rail (not A ground that morning), she took a stride or two to find her feet but her final 50m was very good. She's bred to get a trip so no surprise to see her want further but 1300m looks like an ideal kick off point (weak maiden).
