ALLISION (Best Bet) is chasing the hat-trick of wins after successive wins at Gosford and Canterbury. Still plenty of scope for improvement and a winning chance again, especially from barrier (1) with James McDonald in the saddle. She’s also one from one at the track and distance which will fill punters with confidence.

RETALIATION (Next Best Bet) unbeaten in two provincial runs to date. Stepping up in distance and has to take the step to midweek city grade but still plenty of scope for improvement. Drawn awkwardly, but James McDonald is the right man for the job. Both his runs have been on good tracks, so the rain affected track will be a test.

Retaliation - 1pt @ 3.90

ROSA CAROLINA is a former New Zealand filly who led all the way for an impressive Gosford victory at first Australian start. Looks to have plenty of upside and right up to this grade. She’s drawn well in barrier (3) and has been supported early after winning on a soft track previously.

PURRARI resumes and has trialled well on two occasions leading into this. Canterbury winner in three runs in her first preparation and looks ready to go fresh.

BRIGHT LIGHTS BABY unlucky not to win at Newcastle Beaumont on debut before finishing runner-up at Warwick Farm last start. Still scope for improvement and gets the chance to go one better from an ideal gate.

CALIFORNIA ELITE (Best Roughie) placed both runs to date at Warwick Farm and Gosford. Wore down late last start. Still scope for improvement and gets the chance to go one better. Barrier (10) does make this assignment a bit harder, but his two placed runs on a soft and heavy track look like good form lines to follow here.

MISSILE STRIKE forget the margin when a beaten favourite at Hawkesbury on debut. Should have been right in the finish. Right up to this with the blinkers on for the first time.

INVINCIBELLA resumes on the back of a Rosehill trial win. Runner up all three runs last preparation and looks right up to winning this fresh.

BRIGHT LIGHTS BABY unlucky not to win at Newcastle Beaumont on debut before finishing runner-up at Warwick Farm last start. Still scope for improvement and gets the chance to go one better.

ALLEZ CHIVAL has been competitive in Saturday races at each of her runs this preparation. Gets the chance to return to the winners list back to midweek grade. She’s drawn to get the run of the race from barrier (2) and has won at the track and distance. Her record on rain affected tracks is sensational.

ARISE AUGUSTUS resumes from a 60-day let-up after winning successive races at Canterbury and Randwick. Came off a 56-day break to run second at Warwick Farm three runs back. A winning hope again from an ideal gate.

REINCARNATE won three on the trot at the start of his last preparation and looks ready to go fresh here with the advantage of the inside gate.

UNTAMED DIAMOND some hope as well, especially with the 3kg claim to Deanne Panya.

KENT didn't get the clearest of runs in the straight in the Up And Coming at Randwick when resuming. Had some of the best sectionals in the race and the one to beat here, especially from barrier (2) with James McDonald on board. His soft track record of 4:1-2-0 will also fill punters with confidence.

SPIRITOS has struck heavy tracks all three runs this preparation. Placed at Warwick Farm last start. Should be right at his peak and a likely improver on a drier surface.

TRINITY RIVER chasing the hat-trick after successive provincial wins this distance range. Makes her own luck on speed and will take plenty of running down around Canterbury.

DON PELLEGRINO placed both runs this time in. Peaks third-up and gets a soft run from the gate. Definite place prospects again.

SELECTIONS: No7 KENT, No2 Spiritos, No5 Trinity River, No6 Don Pellegrino
Kent - 1pt @ 3.30

PAINTED FIRETAIL resumes and runner up in a recent Warwick Farm trial. Best form fresh and runner-up at Randwick resuming last preparation. This talented mare by Lonhro has also won on a heavy track which will provide punters with confidence.

MARAAM resumes and placed in a recent Randwick trial. Just missed at Warwick Farm when resuming last time in and looks ready to go fresh here.

MACHINEGUN JUBS is a promising mare. Wayward manners cost her a win at Wyong two runs back and made amends with a comfortable win at Gosford last start. Still scope for improvement and looks right up to a midweek city race.

FAITH'S ENCORE had an impressive win at Warwick Farm in her first preparation. Looks a winning chance fresh from a good gate.
