Swan Hill R2 No.1 - ALL THE WINE

Really liked his trial a week ago at Wangaratta over the 900m on a bog track, jumped straight to the front, appeared to settle nicely and proceeded to let down under minimal riding. He had the better of a city-performed 2yo (North Sky/Hayes & Dabernig). Time was ok for the morning and he certainly appeared to have more up his sleeve. Think if he can find the front with enough ease (rail in the true position), pattern may favour those on-speed/handy. Not a fashionable trainer/jockey combination but do think this fella may have a touch of upside.

Next Best: Swan Hill R3 No.11 - EL MISIL

Made good ground on debut over 1000m at Echuca three weeks ago, looked fairly green/new to it all but like the way she flattened out and finished on the heels of two smart ones (winner since good in Stakes company & runner-up since dominant winner). Certainly improved for the debut and clearly better out to 1200m. If she can find a spot midfield/cover (should do from the friendly marble), could be the one strong over the top late.

Best Bet: Swan Hill R5 No.3 - VAINRITE

Mare went nicely a month ago over 1300m at Bendigo in much better company/grade than this, she was four weeks between runs and did plenty of work on-speed to only be nabbed late on the line. That race rated well enough (quicker than R1 1300m event) and she did beat home the Stakes competitive Avenue Whisper. Big tick fresh between runs and if anything back to 1200m suits further. She gets in nicely relative weights and if she can find the front she'll take a power of catching.

Swan Hill R6 No.4 - HE'S A MORAL

Will clearly be a touch soft here fresh after an eight month break, but he just could/should be very well better than them. Found himself running in some very slick events in town in his latest preparation, culminating in a 2nd to Golden Spin in an $80,000 race at Caulfield. Think he's still clearly a horse on the up and they may have loftier ambitions for him this campaign, if he's to go on with it he'll win this. Can slide forward looking to take a position from the wide alley and be too good.

Pattern was totally against when resuming at Newcastle two weeks ago over the 1150m (bog track), drew the inside marble and was tucked up against the rail/proceeded to over-race. He never travelled at all through the heavy going and certainly wasn't in the 'A' ground (winners all swooped stand side fence). Very prepared to forgive that effort, if you look at his form on top of the ground (gets that today) he went super at G2 level behind Souchez, and was only nabbed late by the city-class Angharad at Gosford. Should sit OSL and be too good here.
