Sydney FC v Perth Glory - Saturday 17:15, Fox Sports 4

Sydney twice came from behind to level things up at 2-2 at the break in their trip to Adelaide and though there were no second half goals it was Sydney that looked the more likely to find a winner as they continue to look an excellent team on the road. They’re now part of a three way-tie in third, with Adelaide just a point further back in what is a very open looking title race. Perth’s win at Phoenix made it three on the bounce for them and they’re now up to 7th themselves, having been bottom after eight games.

Sydney have been the best side defensively in the division but have slipped somewhat in the last couple of weeks, conceding five in their last two and with just one clean sheet in their last nine. Their home record this season is W3-D3-L2 with wins coming over current bottom-three sides the Jets and Mariners. Indeed, since the start of last season Sydney’s home record is W8-D7-L7 with seven of these eight wins coming over bottom-four teams. Their record when hosting sides between 4th and 7th in this time is W1-D1-L5 as they failed to score in four of these defeats but drew the first half in six of these games.

After winning just one of their opening eight games, Perth’s record since then is a decent W5-D3-L2 as they’ve managed to score in all of these games with their only defeats coming at Brisbane and at home to Adelaide. Having lost their first five away games, Perth’s only defeat in their last four was 2-1 at Brisbane as they’ve drawn at Victory to make them one of only two sides, along with the Wanderers, that have come away with any points from the Champions this season, whilst beating the Jets and Phoenix in their last two on the road.

Sydney look a little short to us for a side that have proven better on the road than at home in recent times and with Perth in much better form now we think they should be able to get something from this game. Kenny Lowe’s side have only lost two games all season by more than one goal, despite their slow start to the season, and they should prove competitive once again here.
